2 charged with murder in death of Covington 2-year-old

A 10 On Your Side update to the investigation of the death of a child in Covington last year. Covington Police say they’ve charged a man and woman with murder, in connection with the death of a 2-year-old back in January of 2008.
Investigators say on Sunday, January 20, 2008, Covington emergency dispatch received a call around 5:30 p.m., asking for help for a 2-year-old girl who was unresponsive.
Covington Rescue Squad members took the child, now identified as Lakin Brown, to Alleghany Regional Hospital. Doctors say the child died.
Covington Police say an Alleghany County grand jury indicted Jeffrey Ailstock and Katrina Hyler on felony homicide, as well as family abuse and neglect of children charges.
Both Ailstock and Hyler are being held at the Alleghany Regional Jail.

Hi again,now I was just starting to think that i was being to hard on her and her family ,but now it seems just like everyday someone is coming forward about her and her reputation and taking the life of that child but its looking more and more everyday like all of us up here in Salem wouldnt have been safe.Its really nice to know that she says she isnt around here right now we can all rest easier for the sake of our children.taylor,heathert she thinks this is people just being mean around here to her but it looks like everywhere shes been and all the people that know her say the same thing.Would any of you guys want her to be around your houses knowing what kind of person she is?Someone in that family is atleast thinking strait to send her away from their children.Heathert and taylor just verified exactly what we had thought here before.Even if shes proven innocent I hope that everyone remembers to keep her away from kids.From what Im hearing she has really been around I wonder if Jeffery knows hes been going where so many people have been,like a dirty drive thru 1 stop shop truckstop type of girl.No wonder this happenened alot of people before had said she was on alot of drugs and I guess thats what happenened .Drugs do horrible things to people especially the kids of parents who used them so much.Poor innocent child didnt stand a chance in this world.Now what I wonder is which one is guilty ,as far as Ive heard Jeffery is still in jail,I wonder if he is taking the rap for her now or what?I guess I choose my username wrong cause I dont know just the facts but looks like alot of people really do.She claims to not be the person on here typing for this DART clan of people but I hope what you all have said are really opening their eyes to the crap they have all been put thru because of her and stop defending her.She has alot of people fooled.Lets all find peace for baby laken.I hope a smalltown judge sees thru her act and covington has real thorough investigators that get to the bottom of this tragedy.

lilmomma,I will keep your family in my prayers and pray your heart and love can span across the heavans so Laken will feel all of your familys love,thank God there is people in that little girls life that cared about her.We will keep her in our hearts like an angel since nobody else seems to want to help except for the other few good hearted people that seem to have the guts to post.When her own mother stopped caring for her you are there for her in spirit and their is a place in heavan like the good people that are only out for seeking justice.Also look at the postings their are many people pretending to be this Dart person because all of a sudden tognite the person can spell and make a lil more sense and the wording isnt the same.so more than one person actually has the audacity to be acting like her.There needs to be more of us and fewer of her.Tell your family and friends of this child to let their voices be heard.

hi guys sorry i havnt written back ive been workin and with my babies..i just want everyone to know i know tht u are worried about this but at this time we cant give out any info on the case..just be patient and in the end everyone will know the truth! I promise that! Im glad you are all concerned for the other children and we are to but we just have to wait! Thank you for ur concerns and ur thoughts please keep our family in ur prayers
