Architects need more time to look at Roanoke Market Building

It could be another month before we see plans for the Roanoke City Market building.

The architects hired by the city to draw up the plans say they need more time.  Cunningham/Quill, a Washington D.C. firm, had planned to make a presentation to City Council Monday.

City Engineer Phil Schirmer says the building’s plumbing is more of a challenge than first thought.

Schirmer says the firm hopes to make its presentation to council by April 20.

The city is paying Cunningham/Quill $80,000 for its plan.  That cost will not increase because of the delay.

The delay should not affect vendor operations over the next month.
