College students from Emmanuel College in Boston, Mass. have started their second work day doing trail work on Mountain Side Trail at Douthat State Park.

Seven students have been volunteering at Douthat and will continue to volunteer the rest of the week for their spring break vacation.

When asked why they chose to come to Douthat State Park and volunteer for a week instead of going somewhere like the Bahamas Rose Blondin, a student volunteer said, “We are all part of an environmental group at Emmanuel College and we just wanted to give back.“

The students will continue to do trail work for the rest of the day and tomorrow and will begin planting trees on Thursday.

Any one interested in volunteering at Douthat State Park needs to contact the main office at 540-862-8100.
