Former New Jersey mayor:  Roanoke Neo Nazi “terrified” him

  The first black mayor of South Harrison Township in New Jersey told the jury this afternoon White “terrified” him with a late night phone call back in 2008.
  Charles Tyson resigned as mayor of the New Jersey township of about 3,000 last January.  He agreed to stay on council as deputy mayor but later resigned that position in November.  Tyson cited racism for both resignations.

  Prosecutors said White called Tyson’s home late one night demanding to speak to him.  Tyson’s wife answered.  She told the jury the caller offended her so she hung up.

  An e-mail ended up in the town’s inbox two minutes later from White, saying Tyson’s story reminded him of how he claimed white supremacists “tarred and feathered” black leaders in the past gave him “hope one day we shall see [those days] again.“

  White’s defense team beat the same drum they have been since the beginning- that all of White’s writings—- while vile and disgusting—- are political and protected free speech.

  The final alleged victim, the residence life director at the University of Delaware, is expected to testify as early as tomorrow morning.

  Warman’s testimony took us to lunch.  The judge gives the jury an one hour lunch break everyday.

  White’s lead defense attorney, David Damico, went back to the central point he has been making since the beginning of the trial—- that White’s writings, while disturbing, where political in nature.

  Warman disagreed.

  A Canadian civil rights attorney told the jury in the Bill White case he’s sure the Roanoke Neo Nazi wanted him dead.

  Richard Warman, a lawyer practicing primarily in Ottawa, Canada, said White had been harassing him and threatening him for more than two years.

  Warman said he took several of White’s postings to “kill” him very threatening.
