Covington woman arrested in murder-for-hire plot

  I checked Davis’s criminal history in Alleghany County and couldn’t find anything other than a couple of minor traffic violations.
  Her next scheduled court appearance is set for January 28, 2010.
  I could not track down Davis’s husband for comment.

  Alleghany County commonwealth’s attorney Ed Stein said Davis is accused of paying an undercover state police officer $500 to kill her husband.
  The transaction happened yesterday, November 30, in the Covington Wal-Mart parking lot.
  Stein said Davis originally contacted a friend about the plot, and that friend in turn called police.

    A local woman is arrested in what police say was a murder-for-hire plot.
    Investigators with the Covington Police Department say 58-year-old Mary K. Davis was arrested yesterday after an interview with an undercover officer.
    Davis is charged with attempted capital murder and solicitation for murder.
    She’s now being held at the Alleghany Regional Jail without bond.
