Curbside voting sees big increase

While the final stats probably won’t be in for a little while, local poll workers expect unprecedented numbers in curbside voting.

The Roanoke City Registrar’s Office expects it to be off the charts.

The precinct at Roanoke Academy of Math and Science had around 30 curbside voters by 1 PM.

The usual number is between 4 and 6, said the precinct’s chief.

Some precincts could afford the resources of taking a machine to curbside voters.

Others could not.

A few precincts had to give curbside voters paper ballots since long lines prevented them from freeing up a machine.

Roanoke city’s total voter turnout probably won’t be known until after 7 PM.
