Monday, WILCOHESS confirmed the tanker truck involved in the accident on Saturday night on 581 belonged to the company.
In a statement, the company says, “The entire WILCOHESS family extends their thoughts and prayers to our driver’s family at this very difficult time.  We are working closely with the investigating authorities to determine the cause of the accident.“

The truck was out of Raphine, but as of right now we have not been able to confirm where the driver filled up his tank…

What we do know is the driver stopped at Western Energy Incorporated off Starkey Road in Roanoke County at 9:48pm.  That was a little more than ten minutes before the accident.  There, he topped off with ethanol before heading toward 581.

According to Western Energy the driver had previous truck driving experience, but was new to WILCOHESS.  In fact, Western Energy had just issued him an access code for its pumps about four weeks ago.
