Fire destroys hunting club in Alleghany County

A fire destroyed a hunting club’s camp in Alleghany County Tuesday afternoon, leaving some of its members in tears.

Alleghany County firefighters tell us the flames sparked at the Bear Wallow hunt camp, near Boiling Springs.

Some hunt club members believe a fire may have been lit last night, and not been put out properly this morning.

Terry Simpson, an original hunt club member, told us that he had “a lot of good memories” in the building that burned.

This is not the first fire at the hunt club.  Another happened back in 1985.  Firefighters were able to save it back then.
