Gas prices are the highest they’ve been all year

Gas prices are the highest they’ve been all year.
In fact, compared to last year’s holiday season the average price for a gallon of regular is up nearly 85 cents.
That’s bad news for holiday shoppers, and bad news for an already fragile economy.
Prices have increased 17 days in a row, hitting a national average of nearly $2.70 a gallon on Friday.
If you’re on the road this weekend, the national average is up to $2.70.
And in the Commonwealth, the average price for a gallon of gas is up to $2.59.
Finally, if you are sticking around our area, an average price for a gallon of regular is at $2.54.
Experts say it’s less likely people will spend their way out of this recession, as drivers will have to spend more of their income at the pump.

One reason crude oil is so high is that investor are betting that oil is the place to make money in the markets.
Another reason is that the dollar is so devalued compared to other currencies, and it is unlikely to gain much until the government stops spending money that it does not have.

We all know that the problem is that George Bush has retaken the White House and kicked out the present occupant.  We managed to chastise W without stopping once.  After all, he was in bed with the oil companies.  He and Chaney were taking money and all that.  Our current occupant (to call him President suggests that he is doing something) will do nothing just as all before him have done.

Can anyone tell me why the gas prices are going up?  Did a refinery close down, a pipeline explode, an oil tanker sink, or did the arabs just decide we need to pay more?  All the while this country sits on the biggest discovery of oil reserves found yet under North Dakota.  And the politicians talk on…...
Meanwhile, us common folk decide whether to buy a gallon of gas to get to work or buy a prescription to stay healthy so we can work.
