Gas prices keep falling

Good news for drivers, gas prices are falling.

According AAA, the average gas price in Roanoke is $2.21.  That’s down from $3.91 last year at this time.

These are impressive prices for people traveling through our area.

Gas prices in Virginia are below the national average, which is $2.47.

We talked to one man who says gas prices back home in North Carolina are around $2.50 a gallon.

“Being from Durham, North Carolina, I notice a big difference in the price. It’s a lot lower here. Maybe I ought to fill up several times before I leave,“ said Rodney Robinson.

AAA says some analysts suggest some oil producers may slow or stop production if the price of oil falls too quickly this summer.

One hint of a hurricane in the gulf will stope the falling prices.  Enjoy the cheap prices while they last.

Gas price is a “tell” about the future economy, for it to be falling here (a time when it is usually rising) is not a good sign.  More rough economic weather is ahead, what? who knows.  But oil price falling is too significant.  The industry was “sure” this would “never” happen again, a drop to the 20’ or 30’s per barrel in price.  Wow!  This is big!! IMHO.  Chuk.
