Nike visited Blacksburg Monday to unveil a brand new, all white look for the Virginia Tech football team.  Tech’s Cody Grimm and Tyrod Taylor served as models for the new uniforms.  Nike says they are the lightest uniforms the company has ever made, and are made to allow the players more comfort throughout the game.
Hundreds of students and fans gathered at Squires Plaza on campus to see the new “Pro Combat” uniforms.  The cheerleaders and dance team entertained the crowd before the unveiling.  Coach Beamer was joined on stage by Hokie legends Antonio Freeman and Bruce Smith.
The uniforms will be worn this Saturday at Maryland.  The jerseys, helmets, and pants will all be auctioned off later to raise money to help Herma’s Readers, a non-profit organization named after Coach Beamer’s mother, that helps promote reading in Virginia.
