Senator Jim Webb weighs in on Obama’s Afghanistan strategy

“As Commander-in-Chief, I have determined that it is in our vital national interest to send an additional 30,000 U.S. troops to Afghanistan.“

And with that, more U.S troops will be headed oversees.

Virginia Senator Jim Webb, also a member of the Senate Committee on Armed Services and the Committee on Foreign Relations, weighed in on the Presidents decision saying he supports it.  “The President inherited a set of difficult options and I think he has chosen an option in a responsible way designed to end military involvement and attempt to bring stability to region.“

Senator Webb still has his concerns, saying, “We want to maintain our maneuverablilty so the troops can react to international terrorism and that they remain mobile because it is to the Taliban’s advantage when we get bogged down in static positions of certain areas.“

As far as the July 2101 pull out date, Senator Webb hopes rather than focusing on a date, the President focuses strongly on exactly how its going to be carried out.“Maybe it will befinished sooner. As soon as we can create the right stability in the country we should end our involvement. I don’t believe in a long term occupation.“

Did anyone notice that during this mind numbing, narcissistic speech he never mentioned winning this war? He never stated that the plan was to WIN..it was just to set a foundation to pull out.
When Obama was on the campaign trail, he stated multiple times that the war in Afghanistan HAD to be won, it HAD to be won..over and over. Since he has been in office he has done NORHING to win this war, or to stabilize the country. All he knows how to do is blame Bush. He even fit that into his speech. Right now it is his war, he is the one that has to take responsibility….but he just wants to put it off and put it off. Now we are being told that the 18 month time table was ONLY if things in the country are right for us to leave. Lol, it can not happen in 18 months and he knows it.
Think about it….18 months will put it in 2011….right about time for the election…so he wants to have the option of “bringing the boys home” to get the support from his liberal base. He doesnt give a crap about our soliders and what they need to win this war, and that is obvious by the 30,000 troop number he picked (when he was asked THREE MONTHS AGO to send 60,000 to 80,000).
This guy is the most dangerous thing to happen to the safety, security, and general foundations of our country that we have faced!
Oh, and don’t forget this was isn’t being fought over terrorism….in his words, it is being fought over a a “man made disaster”. He can’t even bring himself to say terrorism, or terrorist…tell me why…...

Dear Political Hack Webb,

The “situation” Obama Hussein inherited didn’t include 20% unemployment, government takeover of the auto makers, banks and a planned dismantling of the healthcare system.

Great idea to let the terrorists (forgot that your boy nixed the use of the term terrorists) know they if can hang on for 18 months, we will pull out.  They will then be free to butcher their opposition with impunity.  Oh well, got to placate those fringe wackos on the left and get the troops home in time for his re-election campaign.  Winning never enters the equation for Obama.

In spite of PresBo speaking for over 30 minutes he maintained his characteristic “say nothing do nothing” posture.  He did, however, say that we would pull out in 18 months.  Folks, that is the most stupid comment I have heard come from the lips of a national leader regardless of your feelings for him.  Senator Webb with hope will not continue to follow this man’s pretend lead.
