Inside Roanoke County’s new Green Ridge Recreation Center

Roanoke County’s new Green Ridge Recreation Center opened up for local business leaders Tuesday.

After Roanoke Co. Board of Supervisors Chairman Mike Altizer presented the 2009 State of the County Address, business leaders got a sneak pick at the new facilty.

The Green Ridge Recreation Center is located in North Roanoke County on Woodhaven Road.  It features a gymnasium, a fitness center and an indoor & outdoor aquatics center and water park.

It is slated to open in January 2010.

I agree that this is a big WOW!  Go see it for yourself!  This is more than your every day gym! Look at all of the great recreation programs they are going to offer there as well.  This is one of the many type of facilities that will help keep and attract young professionals and families to the Roanoke area. I am glad that their are some visionaries in our community.

This is one of the biggest WOWs in years.  What a wonderful place to visit and enjoy the County’s money at work?  This is change (small change?  not hardly) you can count on for years to come or at least paying off the debt.  Get the clock turned on when it opens and see how long it goes before it closes.  P.S.  Did you do a story about the other Gyms in the area?  I’m sure they would like to have a word or two about the county government entering into private business’ realm.  How would you feel if the County or City decided to go into the TV business and air programing during the same time as your shows?
