Oak Grove Elementary School in Roanoke County celebrated its 50th year, and the community got together for the birthday bash on Sunday.

The festivities began with a Tiger Parade made up of students and school officials. The Hidden Valley Middle School band also kicked off the show.

Students tell us they’ve been celebrating throughout the school year.

“It’s fun. Usually we have a lot of activities to do in between the months,“ said Katie Caldwell.

“I think it’s cool that we’re celebrating the parade and the music that’s going on, and we’ve been planning this for awhile,“ said Kiara McGuire.

The party also held a reception for the class reunions as well as a video montage of memories through the years.
