The excitement and anticipation for Tuesday’s presidential inauguration is building, and it is bringing people through our area.

You may have noticed VDOT signs on the highway, along with a little extra traffic this weekend.

Many people from out of state are traveling through Roanoke on their way to Washington, D.C..

We caught up with the Ron Johnson and his family at a gas station at the Hollins exit off I-81 Monday.

All three generations were on their way to the inauguration from Mississippi.

So far, they have traveled around 750 miles.

“We’re looking at about another 200-250 miles,” Johnson said.  “[It’s] definitely worth it.  I love it.“
