Salvation Army now using online “bell ringers”
The Roanoke Salvation Army is trying something new to raise money this holiday season.
Although bell ringers will be outside stores with their red kettles, the organization is also depending on online donations.
They want to raise $200,000 for the Christmas season and hope to get off to a good start with the Black Friday shoppers.
“The website I think will work out pretty good. Hopefully it gets the online shoppers that can see our logo there, and they’ll want to slip over and give us some extra cash,“ said Major Samuel Van Denberg.
The Salvation Army surpassed their Thanksgiving fundraising goal of $20,000.
