Santa might not get H1N1 shot

It’s the season of giving, including the flu. Even Santa doesn’t want to get sick.

Not all of Santa’s helpers are on the CDC’s list of those at high risk for H1N1. That means they won’t be getting the vaccine.

The CDC says the best way to keep Santa healthy is to make sure children get the vaccine before they sit on his lap.

Dr. Mudassar Chaudry, an infectious disease expert at Lewis Gale says this should not keep parents from taking children to see Santa.

“If Santa’s sick and is sneezing in your face and coughing, then yes, stay away from him.“, says Chaudry.

Chaudry says if children are coughing, sneezing and breathing on each other while in line to see Santa, the flu can spread.
