10 On Your Side has obtained a list of what Virginia State Police took from Hardy volunteer fire chief Jeff Shifflett’s home.

Investigators confiscated at least 30 guns from Shifflett’s Bedford County home.

There is also documentation of police taking ammunition, a stove, a dress, a 1967 antique Chevy Chevelle, a 1977 antique Jeep CJ-7, an abrasive blaster, and a pair of chainsaws.

Shifflett has so far been charged with one count of felony forgery and is under investigation for using fire department money to buy personal items.

We’ll have more on this story tonight beginning on WSLS 10 On Your Side at 5 p.m.

From someone who comes from a family of firefighters and EMT’s, it saddens me that the men and women of the Hardy Fire Department are having to deal with this.  IF, and I mean IF, there was any wrong doing, then that person should be held accountable.  But to sit there and blame the entire company for one persons actions is deplorable.  Jeff is, as any other person blamed of a crim would be; INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY IN A COURT OF LAW!!!!  But, as I said, you shouldnt be blaming the entire company for this.  I too know people in the company and they are just as shocked as anyone else.  They are all great men and you shouldnt act like you know…

I would just like to say that I personally know some of the firefighters in Hardy.  They are there to serve the community and that is all. Just because you have someone that fouls up and gets caught, you can’t blame the whole company! I don’t think that you have any idea what you are talking about and maybe you should find out who these men are before you judge them!!!

also, i find it humorous his fellow fire fighters were the first one posting comments on here about “hey wait they have a trial before you judge him…“; yet it’s entirely obvious they are the ones who narc’ed him out.  they should investigate and drug test every single one of those firefighters, where there’s smoke there’s fire right?
