Superintendents cancel trip to India
The educators were supposed to go to Mumbai, India - a trip that's been planned since May 2007.School leaders in our area were scheduled to be in Mumbai this week.
Local superintendents were supposed to leave last Friday and stay until December 8.
They had reservations at the Taj Mahal Hotel, were one of the attacks happened.
Salem Superintendent, Dr. Alan Seibert says they were supposed to be learning about the global economy - lessons they could teach students.
“It’s been a lot of mixed emotions. Mostly thankful and hearbroken. I’m thankful I was home safe, and I’m just hearbroken for the people injured and grieving,“ Seibert said.
There were three other superintendents from our area who were supposed to go, including those from Henry, Nelson, and Grayson Counties. The trip was sponsored by businesses.
