It’s official!
The staff of the ‘Taubman Museum of Art’ can move into their new building.
Roanoke city’s building commissioner presented the staff with a temporary “certificate of occupancy” that will allow them to move in.
The executive director of the museum was also presented with a key to the building this afternoon.
Staff will spend the next several months preparing for the November 8th grand opening.
Georganne Bingham, the executive director says, “We’ll spend the next two months getting the galleries installed with all the art planning all the parties and programming and so we’re really excited to be able to be in our new space.“
The grand opening will include performances and kid-friendly activities.
Mayor Bowers says about 25-thousand people are expected to gather downtown for the museum’s opening.
