Tax holiday a success at Roanoke Staples

Many take advantage of the tax-free holiday weekend.
The Virginia Department of Taxation tells us Virginians have saved more money each year since the holiday began in 2006.
The department estimated people would save about $4 million this year.
Staples employees in Roanoke tell us they are pleased with what they saw this weekend.

“Right now with gas prices as they are, most individuals are trying to be as concerned and careful as they are about every dollar they spend. And we were very happy with the response that they got,“ said Steven Elkins, Sales Manager at the store.

This isn’t the only sales tax holiday we’ve seen this year.
Back in May, Virginia held a hurricane preparedness tax holiday.
