VDOT to truckers: Don’t rely on GPS for Route 116

» 0 Comments | Post a Comment

VDOT has a new warning to truckers.  Don’t rely on GPS.

Navigation devices tell drivers to use Route 116 to get back and forth between Roanoke and Franklin County.

There are new signs on 116 and near the intersection of 116 and 122, letting truckers know the road is winding and mountainous. The signs say GPS routing is not advised.

Both Roanoke and Franklin Counties are pushing for a truck restriction on 116, after a recent cattle truck accident.

VDOT had made plans to change the recommendation on the signs in February, prior to that crash.
