Ready for Election Day? How to use electronic voting machines and apply for an absentee ballot

» 0 Comments | Post a Comment

With November 4 just weeks away, area registrars’ offices are wanting you to be ready to cast your vote.

Barbara Gunter, the general registrar for Bedford County, wants voters to be comfortable casting their ballots on November 4.
Gunter says each precinct in Bedford County has sample voting machines for voters to practice and become at ease with the touch screen technology.
Each county may use a slightly different voting system, but most are similar.
There are a few important things to remember when completing your absentee ballot application. Gunter says to make sure to print legibly, make sure to fill out your Social Security Number and only cite one reason why you are applying to qualify to vote absentee. Be sure to check when your county or city’s applications are due, and make sure to allot enough time for the absentee ballot to arrive.

For the absentee voting application deadlines, check with your local registrar:

Amherst County
Bedford County
Botetourt County
Campbell County
Danville
Henry County
Lynchburg
Montgomery County
Roanoke
Roanoke County
Salem

If your area is not listed, check the Virginia State Board of Elections.
