Bedford Co.‘s Holy Land USA to be sold

It’s been a place of religious pilgrimage here locally for decades, now it’s set to be sold.

Holy Land USA will be auctioned on December 16 at 12:30p.m. at the site on Dickerson Mill Road in Bedford.

In all 182 acres will be sold, either as a whole or in five tracts. 

Scenes from Israel and the life of Jesus Christ are depicted along the site’s three-mile nature trail. 

“It’s been like a well kept secret through the years.“, says Holy Land USA president Mike Dodson.  “People just didn’t know it was here that even lived in Lynchburg, didn’t even know it was here.“

Despite renovations and an advertising campaign, the last two tourist seasons were slow in the down economy.  Dodson says the non-profit that owns the site decided to sell and give the money made to other ministries.
