Four drivers walked away uninjured from a Bedford County wreck Wednesday night that flipped an SUV and tore off the hood of a Corvette.

In all, four cars were damaged in the incident, which happened at about 8:30 p.m. about one mile west of the intersection of U.S. 460 and Thomas Jefferson Road.

Trooper G.D. Musgrove, of the Virginia State Police, said a 2007 Corvette struck a 1996 Ford Explorer on the right side as both cars headed west on U.S. 460.

The wreck sheared the hood off the Corvette, along with a front tire, and much of the front body. The Explorer flipped once and landed back on its tires, Musgrove said.

The Corvette’s driver, David Rosenberg, 38, of Lynchburg, was unhurt, and was charged with reckless driving. Musgrove said Rosenberg had just purchased the car earlier in the day.

The SUV’s driver, David Miller, of Goode, refused transport to the hospital, Musgrove said.

In the aftermath of the wreck, Musgrove said, a Chrysler PT Cruiser and a Pontiac Grand Am both ran over debris from the Corvette, causing minor damage.

Neither of the drivers of those vehicles complained of injuries either, said Musgrove.

Emergency crews shut down both westbound lanes of U.S. 460 and one eastbound lane immediately after the wreck.
