Deadly Crash on U.S. 460

A man died in a Wednesday morning accident in Appomattox County, according to Virginia State Police.
Sgt. David Cooper said at about 10:35 a.m., Richard Allen Scroggin, 44, of Richmond, was driving his Ford Econoline van east on U.S. 460, about ½ mile west of Virginia 630 in Appomattox County.
Scroggin ran the van off the right side of the road, then overcorrected.
The van then ran off the left side of the road and overturned.
No other vehicles were involved in the accident, and no passengers were in the vehicle.
Cooper said Scroggin was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash.
Scroggin was airlifted to Lynchburg General Hospital, where he died at about 12:13 p.m.
Trooper G.A. Smith is investigating the accident.
