Fire destroys Campbell Co. warehouse

A warehouse belonging to a Campbell County wholesale grocery business burned to the ground this morning.
Officials received a call about a fire at the Greer’s Wholesale building, off southbound U.S. 29 near English Tavern Road, around 11:05 a.m.
When fire crews arrived, the warehouse was in flames. The fire was extinguished in about 20 minutes, but the building was destroyed.
No one was inside at the time. Fire officials don’t yet know what caused the blaze.
Crews shut down northbound and southbound lanes of U.S. 29 for about an hour because the nearest fire hydrant was across the road. The road has reopened.
