Free H1N1 vaccines available Saturday

Flu shots for the H1N1 swine flu will be provided Saturday morning at several clinics in the Lynchburg region.

All clinics will be held from 9 a.m. to noon while vaccine supplies last. There will be no charge and no appointments are necessary.

The shots will be limited to people with high risks for complications from flu, officials with the Central Virginia Health District announced Monday.

Those groups include: pregnant women; people living with or caring for infants younger than 6 months old; health care workers; anyone from 6 months to 24 years old; and people 25 through 64 with chronic medical conditions such as asthma, heart disease or diabetes.

The at-risk groups were designated by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Amherst County Health Department, 224 Second St., Amherst;
Appomattox County Health Department, 475 Court St., Appomattox;
Bedford Elementary School, 806 Tiger Trail, Bedford;
Campbell County Health Department, 116 Kabler Ave., Rustburg;
Lynchburg Health Department, 1900 Thomson Drive.
