The Hill City is named a southern hotspot for retirement locations.

Reitrement Lifestyles magazine will feature its top 11 locations in its upcoming issue for the January/February/March 2010 quarter.  The magazine focuses on eleven states: Arkansas, Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, Florida, Virginia, Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina.

“Lynchburg offers you a small college town atmosphere in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains and on the banks of the James River,” said Retirement Lifestyles Executive Editor Dan Owens in a news release.  “While government retirees from D.C. have found Lynchburg, as well as a trickle of relocating retirees from other states, the area is relatively undiscovered.  Hikers, bikers and naturalists love the laid back, scenic Lynchburg area. Those seeking an affordable retirement spot also love the low cost of living.  Lynchburg has a bright future as a magnet for relocating retirees from other states,” Owens added.

The magazine claims a readership base of 100,000 for each quarterly isse.
