New revelations about the case of an 11-year-old child, who Campbell County deputies say was shot and killed by a 13-year-old earlier this week.

Investigators tell me a third boy was present when the shooting happened. The lead investigator says the third boy was hunting coyotes with the 13-year-old who deputies charged. Then when the boys came out of the woods, deputies say 11-year-old Andrew Lambert came out to tag along with them.

Officers say the third boy told them he had no involvement with what led to the shooting, but he is being considered a witness.

Also new, investigators say the 13-year-old’s mother testified in Campbell County Court on Wednesday. The mother told the court that she did not go out to see the 11-year-old who was shot, after being told about the shooting.

Investigators would not say who called 911.

I’m working on this story for WSLS at 6:00 p.m.
