Tourism leaders are hoping trains will bring visitors to our area, but not in the way you might think.

At a news conference at the Virginia Museum of Transportation, Virginia’s Rail Heritage Region was announced.

The three major points are Roanoke, Lynchburg and Clifton Forge.

The partnership will promote the region’s rail museums, rail lines and historical sites.

It’s an effort to get train lovers to spend time and money here.

The General Assembly unanimously approved the bill creating the Rail Heritage Region.
