Woman robbed in Lynchburg CVS parking lot

A 73-year-old woman was robbed in the parking lot of a Lynchburg pharmacy Thursday afternoon, police said.

Shortly before 2 p.m., a man walked up to the woman as she walked to her car in the parking lot of the CVS at of Langhorne and Atherholt roads, said Capt. Brandon Zuidema of the Lynchburg Police Department.

The man threatened her but did not display a weapon.

He took her purse and ran in the direction of Atherholt Road, Zuidema said.

The suspect is described as a light-skinned black man in his late 20s or early 30s, 6-feet-1-inch tall to 6-feet-3-inches tall with a medium build.

He is clean-shaven and wore jeans, white shoes, a hooded desert camouflage jacket and a black stocking cap on his head.

Police department canines are trying to track him.
