Husband arrested in Blacksburg standoff

Lt. Wright tells WSLS that 50-year-old Eric Surface is being held without bond on an abduction charge.

Lt. Wright tells WSLS the husband is now in custody.

His name and what charges he faces have not been released.

WSLS Reporter

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office has their tactical team outside a home on Glade Road in Blacksburg, after the Sheriff’s Office received a call about a domestic situation possibly involving a man with a gun.

Lieutenant Brian Wright with the Sheriff’s Office tells me that a husband and wife are inside the home.  Both appear to be intoxicated, and they believe the man has a gun.

Investigators believe the gun is a BB gun, but are treating the situation as if the gun is a bullet not pellet type weapon.

Officers hope to get both the man and woman out safe.
