Economic stimulus money to help bring public water service to part of Carroll Co.

Money from economic stimulus act will help families in Carroll County with their water service.

9th district Congressman Rick Boucher (D) says $338,000 will help bring public water to 33 homes on Honeycutt Dam Road in Woodlawn.  The homes currently rely on well water, some of which have low water yields and low water quality according to the new release from Boucher’s office.

The money is made up of a $155,000 grant, and low-interest federal loan of $183,000, according to Boucher’s office.  The Carroll County Public Service Authority (PSA) will use the money to install 9,700 feet of water line.

“Adequate and reliable public water service is essential to maintaining Southwest Virginia’s excellent quality of life and to achieving our economic development goals for the region. Today’s announcement will assist our ongoing work to expand water and wastewater systems throughout the region,” Boucher said in the release.
