The first paintings go up on the second floor of Norris Hall.

It’s the first art exhibit on the second floor where so many innocent lives were taken.

The art exhibit is hosted by The Center for Peace Studies and Violence Prevention and The Department of Engineering Science and Mechanics.

They’re hoping a series of art exhibits will bring more people into Norris Hall.

Susan Hensley is the artist behind the artwork.

She says picking the right pieces for Norris Hall was a challenge, but feels honored her artwork is the first to be on display.

She says it’s her personal way of paying tribute to the April 16, 2007 shooting victims.

She hopes people leave her exhibit with a sense of comfort. “Hopefully some sort of exuberance can come out of things that were not good…something good may come from something that was very sad.“

The exhibit will be on display until December 18.

The public is invited to stop by.
