The boy being punched repeatedly in the cell phone video and his mother talk to 10 On Your Side.A fight on a Floyd County school bus ends up on the popular video sharing website, YouTube.
The cell phone video, posted April 28, shows 13 year old Matthew Bailey being punched repeatedly by another student. Matthew is a 7th grader at Floyd Elementary School.
“That’s very embarrassing to me because it’s showing me in a weakened state.“, says Matthew. “Everybody was calling saying I got my butt kicked on YouTube.“
“There’s probably millions of parents out there that don’t know.“, says Matthew’s mother Ruth Bailey.
Ruth notified school administrators that the video was online. Schools Superintendent Terry Arbogast tells us he’s seen the video but won’t say if any action has been taken. Transportation director Michael Carr tells us it happened on bus number 13. He would not confirm the bus driver’s name. Carr says the bus does not have a camera.
YouTube removed the video after it was flagged by Ruth. She thinks the site should have stopped it.
“Screen ‘em before they let them download them and if it is violent acts, don’t put them on there.“, says Ruth.
Floyd County Sheriff Shannon Zeman hadn’t heard about the fight or video until we called him. Zeman says it was not reported to the school resource officer and that the family has not filed a criminal complaint.

I would like to know if this boy got in trouble at school and what his punishment was for bringing a knife to school.I think legal charges should have been brought against him. Floyd county schools are not taking that very serious. Does anyone remember VT? What’s going to happen when this boy brings a gun to school will they punish him after it’s to late? It seems to me that this boy knows how to run his mouth but cries when he is put in his place. Ms. Bailey I sure hope it isn’t true that you give your son cigs and God knows what else. Your complaining because he got beat up but your helping him to become addicted to tobacco that can cause harm to his body long term.
If this boy was threatening young girls and it was reported like attitud said then the fight should have never happened because that boy should have NEVER been on that bus again around young girls. So maybe Ms. Bailey you need to try and teach your boy some morals. Where is the school resource officer because the last time I checked it was against the law to threaten someones life and to sexual harrass someone.
I cannot believe Ruth Bailey felt she had to invite WSLS to hear her sad, sad story about her poor innocent boy. I say TOO BAD if it was on the internet. It would not have gone on the internet if her son would not have provoked the fight to begin with. He told another boy what he would do with that boy’s little sister. I am glad the boy beat him up. OH and Matt is not innocent by any means. He brought a knife to school, does drugs, writes sexual letters to others, and he has only been in our school this year for 4 months. So RUTH maybe you should be a MOM with some sense and raise your child right instead of running around doing all your illegal activities. GET OUT OF THE GENE POOL PLEASE.

he wrote a sexually inapropriate note to another seventh grader
he brought drywall to school & said it was crack
with all of those incidents he got suspended he has been at the school for a little over a semester & has been suspended 4 times
Did she say that youtube should screen vids before putting them up? I think someone should clue her in as to how huge youtube is. Screening would be impossible!
If what “attitude” says is true then this kid, Mathew, sounds like a real winner. Maybe mom should teach her kid some respect towards females.
well (gee) does anybody wonder what Matthew did to PROVOKE this school bus fight? Since channel 10 news thinks this is something that the whole viewing area should know then maybe they should know the whole story. It seems like Matthew likes to torment and threaten to do physical harm to young girls (like around age 9) one of these girls brothers decided to take up for her and as for the youtube video some kids have cell phones they take to school and that is how the video comes to life . I do agree that the video should not of been posted. But ya know this all comes back to the school This problem was addressed to proper school authorities and was submissively tossed aside.
