Giles County deputies arrest two county teenagers they say made terroristic threats to people on playing cards.

Investigators say 18-year olds Brian Stafford and Justin Dirico left eight threatening playing cards at the Pearisburg Wal-Mart on Saturday, August 9th.  The cards read “9 people will die” and “9 people will suffer” with the date 8-15-08.

A ninth card was found on a car at the Dairy Queen on Sunday, August 10th.

Officers say the teens were caught up with “The Joker” from “The Dark Knight,“ and that the idea may have stemmed from the movie.

The teens are being held on terrorism-related charges at the New River Valley Regional Jail without bail.

They’re expected in court on Friday, the same date of the threat.

A joke is a joke, but this is going to far, this should not be taken lightly

This is not something that can be brushed off as “a little joke”. How is it that when a threat for people’s lives are made on a card it is a joke, but when those very same lives are taken it is a tragedy? The right to innocence until proven guilty is not to be abused and wasted upon those who threaten the lives of their community.. especially during such times as these. Spare the rod and spoil the child? If it doesn’t stop here then where does it?

I just wanted to say that this was a practical joke gone way to far. The boys did not mean anything by it and never intented on hurting anyone. I just hope that people will that and understand. God bless these boys.

There was a comment made on August 12, that this was all a bit ridiculous, not when it is your childs life they are playing with. You cannot trust anybody now days. See what happened at VT.

Can I ask a question,do you have kids? Did you have a card put on your vechicle?
