Rich Creek police chief fired, wants to know why

The Rich Creek Police chief is fired and now he wants to know why.

Skip Vaughn was the town’s chief for a little over a year before he was fired on Tuesday.

Vaughn says the only reason he got was being insubordinate.

Vaughn says the decision could stem from patrolling the streets for drugs during the Memorial Holiday on his day off.

“If you’re going to fire chief of police for trying to get drugs off the street, what’s next? Are they going to make the fire chief resign for coming out on his birthday to put out a house fire,“ asked Vaughn.

He is meeting with Rich Creek town council at 5:30 tonight to appeal his termination.

What a dirty thing to do to a police chief who is volunteering his time on his day off.  I agree with him..what is next?  Should all offduty officers ignore emergencies?  That isn’t how it is, nor how it should be.  All this ignorant action on the part of Rich Creek’s “powers that be” will accomplish is making our emergency personnel afraid to get involved in ANYTHING when off the clock.

The residents of Rich Creek should bombbard the courthouse with complaints and do so asap.
