Rural Retreat flooding, homeowners cleaning up damage

In Rural Retreat, Wednesday’s heavy rain left Randy’s Auto looking more like Randy’s lake.

Cars were parked in water, tires were sitting in water and the entire back of the building was surrounded by water.

It’s just one place in Rural Retreat you can tell mother nature wasn’t playing around.

Across town Derreck Sprouse’s back yard was covered in mud.

In some home video shot by his son’s baby sitter you can see the water rushing around his house.

WSLS: “What was going through your mind, what were you thinking?
Sprouse: “Help.“

During the down pour water and mud seeped through Sprouse’s basement doors…covering his basement floor in water.

“I had no idea I’d ever get something like this.“

Sprouse says his yard also flooded about two weeks ago, but no where near as bad as it is now.

“Biggest thing was all the water coming of the road just looked like a lake in our front yard.“
