“There was somebody trying to leave the residence, flee the residence to get away from us and we don’t know why”
“He was travelling real fast on that road. I had to slow up to make the curves.“
“He immediately exited the vehicle and ran into the woods. I notified dispatch the pursuit had stopped and then I went in after him.“
“I looked up and saw that he was behind a tree and started to fire at me.“
“I don’t know which shot it was that hit. The first, second, third or what. I just remember several shots and then the burn in my neck and I could hear the shots go past me in a whistling sound through the woods.“
“I was more concerned because I was by myself. I didn’t know where he was anymore. I knew he was armed and he was trying to kill me.“
“The way I ducked and the way I moved was the only way I could have moved without getting hit or struck by any other rounds. This one right here was just one that barely got me.“
“As soon as I woke up this morning, I went back up there. I wanted to last night. Anybody in law enforcement can understand that until it’s over, until he’s caught, you want to be a part of it. Even if I was in a hospital bed and couldn’t move, I wanted to be a part of it.“
“Something like this, it’s gotta be God watching over you.“
