More than one hundred students and community members of all ages and races gathered there to watch history unfold before their eyes.
They didn’t travel to D.C., but Graduate Student Claude Steele says knowing we’ve traveled this far in history is all that matters. “My expectation was that we would probably have the first woman president before we would have an African American president, but I’m certainly overjoyed that we have this moment.“
Many students say they wanted to go to D.C., but didn’t because today is the first day of classes.
