They’re raising awareness about the need for clean drinking water in Africa and what women there have to do to get it.
Dozens of Virginia Tech Students participated in the event called “Be Hope to Her.“
Women walked across campus to the duck pond where men helped them fill up buckets with four gallons of water.
They then put the buckets on their heads and continued walking on campus.
They did what women in Africa do everyday.
“My spine felt like it was collapsing and my arm hurts and it was not fun at all,“ said Carlie Wallace one of the students walking for the cause.
WSLS: But definitely a life lesson to teach you how to be grateful?
Wallace: “Yeah, just seeing what other people have to go through.“
Just in case you’re wondering the women were carrying a little over 33 pounds of water.
