A Virginia Tech professor authors a new book about the April 16 tragedy.

Former English Department Chair Lucinda Roy’s book, “No Right to Remain Silent” hit bookstores Tuesday.

Roy tutored killer Seung Hui Cho.  In the book she writes of her frustrations when she tried to get a counselor to attend a tutoring session and was refused.

Roy has taught at Tech since 1985 and writes the book may end her career at the university.

“Professor Roy is a very valuable distinguished professor.  She’s a tenured professor. She has a right to speak her mind and even though we might disagree at points we still value her.“, says Ed Spencer, Vice President for Student Affairs.

We called Roy asking for an interview.

Roy’s publicist in New York called us back saying Roy would be happy to do an interview the week of the April 16 anniversary, after the story airs on network news.

While this subject brings emotion to the fore, perhaps this professor having tutored the gunman will offer insight as to why the tragedy happened.
