Even in this down economy, Virginia Tech university leaders and the state have made it a point to take care of the Cook Counseling Center, which was so important in the aftermath of the April 16th tragedy.

While other places at Tech have had to cut staff, the Cook Counseling Center has been hiring. It has nearly doubled its counseling staff, from nine to 17.

“Despite budget cuts the university has suffered, they have maintained staffing for us. We’ve opened an additional office in collegiate square. We have more psychiatric staff and more counseling staff than we ever had before,“ Dr. Christopher Flynn, with the counseling center, told us.

As more and more students took advantage of the counseling graduate, the center is helping them find counselors wherever they go.
