Noon: University Remembrance, April 16 Memorial

1 p.m. - 5 p.m.: Expressions of Remembrance, Various locations on Virginia Tech campus

8 p.m.: Corps of Cadets Silent Drill and Candlelight Vigil, April 16 Memorial

11:59 p.m.: Extinguishing of Ceremonial Candle, April 16 Memorial

A group of Virginia Tech students put on a special dance performance Thursday night to honor the memory of Reema Samaha.

Wednesday, many students and employees spent the day preparing and setting up for the remembrance events planned on campus

Two years later, Virginia Tech survivors take steps forward - April 15th, 2009

It was three months after he nearly died in Virginia Tech’s Norris Hall when Kevin Sterne took his first unaided steps.

The doctors and physical therapists at NovaCare, in McMurray, Pa., watched his first few steps carefully, calling out a running commentary of how and when the athletic then-22-year-old needed to shift his weight and change his posture.

April 16th: 2 years later, some Virginia Tech families still struggling - April 14th, 2009

Jerzy Nowak acknowledges he’s not yet comfortable in the peace center he helped to create at the site of the worst mass shooting in modern U.S. history.  His wife, Jocelyne Couture-Nowak, was teaching French in Virginia Tech’s Norris Hall when she was gunned down on April 16, 2007.

Second floor west wing of Norris Hall re-opens - April 10th, 2009

One survivor, and several family members who lost loved ones, attended a short ceremony before the second floor west wing of Norris Hall reopened.  The wing had been closed since Seung-Hui Cho gunned down 29 people on April 16, 2007.
