Car hits person on bicycle in Danville

Danville Police say a person on a bicycle was taken to the hospital after being hit by a car.

It happened around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday on Westover Drive, near Longview Drive.

Police say Eric Hairston, of Martinsville, was going west on Westover Drive. A person on a bicycle rode across the traffic lanes, and into the path of Hairston’s vehicle. The car hit the back tire of the bicycle, knocking the rider to the ground.

The person on the bicycle was taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

No charges have been made against Hairston, or the person riding the bicycle.
