Store clerk shoots suspect during robbery in Halifax County

A store clerk fights back during a robbery, shooting the would be robber.

The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office says the incident took place at Max’s Grocery in Scottsburg on Monday.

The clerk tells deputies that a man walked into the store around 6:30 p.m., pulled out a handgun, and demanded money.  The clerk then shot the would be robber in the chest, and the robber ran out.

The clerk then called deputies.  Officers used a tracking dog, and found the robber in the woods near the store.

Deputies arrested Richard Anthony Snead, and charged Snead with attempted armed robbery, as well as use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.  EMS crews took Snead to MCV Hospital in Richmond for treatment.

Deputies alos arrested Terrence Jermaine Moseley, and charged Mosely with attempted armed robbery, as well as use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.  Mosely is being held at the Blue Ridge Regional Jail in Halifax, without Bond.
