The Army has reached out to Virginia Tech to help them through the Fort Hood tragedy.

This past Friday, they were on a video conference call that lasted about 90 minutes.

Gary Tallman, deputy director of Army media relations, says they asked Tech officials a wide range of questions like “How do you deal with the influx of family members and friends of family members?“

Tallman added “the Army is a learning organization and institution” and says the willingness of Virginia Tech staff to share those experiences and the very specific lessons learned from the April 16, 2007 shootings was extremely helpful.

A Virginia Tech spokesman says since the April 16, 2007 shootings several universities, colleges and hospitals have called them for advice.
