Former Governor and U.S. Senator George Allen issued the following statement today, congratulating Barack Obama for being elected the 44th President of the United States.
“Congratulations to President-elect Barack Obama, his family and his team in winning a phenomenal and historic election. I strongly believe his grandmother in spirit enjoyed his massive, exciting victory. Thank you also to Sen. McCain, his family and his team who fought hard in an exceedingly tough political climate. The people – the owners of the government – have spoken in their States. We must respect the decision of the voters.
“Challenges remain ahead for America to improve opportunities for all.
