IRS says $1.9 million in refund checks haven’t been delivered in Virginia

The government may owe you money.

The IRS says 2,200 Virginia taxpayers are owed a combined total of $1.9 million from federal income tax refunds.  A news release from the IRS says the checks were returned by the U.S. Postal Service, due to mailing address errors.

Some taxpayers are owed more than one check according to a news release.

You can update your address on the IRS website http://www.irs.gov  Click on the “Where’s My Refund?“ link.  You can also call 1-800-829-1954.

“We want Virginians to get this money as soon as possible. If you think you are missing a refund, please take a few minutes to visit IRS.gov or call the toll-free IRS Refund Hotline,” said Jim Dupree, IRS Spokesman, in a news release.
